The project

Meteoric was a free, three-day public arts and film festival in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. After a year of conversations among artists and residents, its first edition in 2019 brought screenings, workshops, installations, performances, public forums, facilitated conversations, and shared meals into venues across town.

Festival notes

Truth or Consequences took shape as three connected parts: a feature film, a local festival, and a bespoke virtual cinematography tool. Meteoric was the festival. Hannah Jayanti and I developed it with collaborators in town through a year of conversations among artists and residents.

Festival as form

The festival treated hospitality as part of its form

Program

Screenings, installations, performances, and workshops placed many kinds of work in public together.

Hospitality

Forums, facilitated conversations, and shared meals treated attention and hospitality as part of the program.

New work

The festival created conditions for residents and visiting artists to begin new work and collaborations.

My role

I co-founded and co-organized Meteoric with Hannah Jayanti and collaborators in town.
